The Musical Me! $1.99 iPhone and iPad app for PK-K does a nice job of early music theory introduction. With graphics that appeal to 3-6 year olds, and 14 commonly known children's songs (in English), it has five activities that introduce notes, pitch, instrument sounds, and rhythm, and three levels. The best learning comes from listening to notes and copying the pattern, and from playing with notes on a treble staff (moving them around and hearing your own short composition). The only instruments that are introduced in the instrument activity are percussion, so this is not the app for learning about instruments. For that, we recommend ABC Music. Just a reminder - this is a music learning app, so the volume has to be on!
